Gov Otti assures Corps Members of safety in Abia
The Governor, Dr Alex Otti has assured Corps members in the State of the present government’s commitment to do everything within its powers to make their stay in the State meaningful.
Governor Otti who gave the assurance at NYSC orientation camp, Umunna Bende, during the Swearing in of the Batch A stream 2 of Corps members posted to the state, expressed the hope that many of them will stay back at the end of their service year to build successful careers, businesses and marriages.
The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth development, Mrs Jane Igwe, said his government is building a State that can attract and retain the best talents, as the true wealth of any society is in the quality of its human capital.
The State Chief Executive noted that Over the last 32 months, government has built systems that can take care of the tastes of young professionals, and appreciated Management of NYSC in the State for their unyielding commitment to the welfare and safety of corps members.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports development, Sir Nwobilor Ananaba, represented by the
Director of Citizenship and Leadership, of the Ministry, Mrs Nnenna Ukelonu,
urged the Corps members to go all out to render those invaluable selfless humanitarian services to their host communities where they will be posted after the orientation programme.
Presenting an address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Yunusa Tanimu, disclosee that the course content, include but not limited to, para military drills, citizenship and leaders ship training, lectures such as skills acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) among others, and appreciated Governor Otti for his efforts in sustaining the scheme in the state.
