Nafiu Gombe’s aide obtains ADC form to jostle for Gombe Senate seat

Bala Kumo, chief of staff to Nafiu Bala Gombe, factional national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has obtained nomination forms to contest the Gombe Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kumo purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Supporters and loyalists of the factional ADC chairman accompanied him to the event.

The development sets up a potential contest between Kumo and Mohammed Goje, senator representing Gombe Central and former governor of the state.

Goje, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is one of the influential political figures in Gombe state.

Speaking with journalists after obtaining the forms, Kumo said his decision to contest was driven by the desire to provide quality representation for the district.

“I believe that political office is a public trust, not a personal privilege. Our democracy works best when citizens with a genuine commitment to service step forward, offer themselves for scrutiny and seek the mandate of the people,” HE SAID.

Kumo said he wanted to contribute his experience towards addressing challenges facing the constituency.

“I took this step to contribute my skills and experience to solving the problems facing our community and to give constituents a clear choice rooted in accountability, transparency and participation,” he said.

The ADC aspirant said his political approach would be based on democratic principles and engagement with constituents.

“I believe I am the right person for this role because my approach is grounded in democratic principles. First, I am committed to listening more than speaking.

“Secondly, I have a track record of integrity and follow-through in my professional and community engagements, which I intend to bring to public office.”
