Security Tops Agenda As Otti Receives Naval Alumni In Abia

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has reiterated that security remains the foremost priority of his administration, stressing that sustained peace and security are fundamental to the state’s growth and development.

The Governor made this known on Wednesday, at his office in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, while receiving the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of the 7 Regular Course, Nigerian Naval College.

The delegation were on a courtesy visit to inform the governor of their forthcoming 40th homecoming anniversary scheduled to take place in the state.

Governor Otti stated that his administration accords the highest level of importance to security, noting that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.

The governor emphasised that the his administration would continue to strengthen measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He expressed appreciation to the alumni for choosing Abia as the host for their reunion and directed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, retired Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah, an alumnus of the course, to liaise with the association and outline areas where the state government could provide support to ensure a successful event.

Commenting on the appointment of Commander Ubah, Governor Otti maintained that the decision was based strictly on merit, pointing out that his administration is commitment to competence and professionalism in public service.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Alumni Association, retired Commodore K.O. Bamidele, commended the pace of development in Abia State under Governor Otti, which he said was a departure from previous administrations.

Retired Commodore Bamidele explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally notify the Governor of their planned 40th reunion in the state later this year.

According to him, members of the association, though retired from active service, remain actively engaged in contributing to national security and development.

He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for appointing one of their own, Commander MacDonald Ubah, as Special Adviser on Security Matters.
