Tinubu Minister’s Son Picks Up APC Chairmanship Form

Osbourne Umahi, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, on Friday picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship nomination and expression of interest forms for Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Osbourne, the minister’s first son, arrived at the APC state secretariat in Abakaliki amid a large crowd of supporters who escorted him to the venue.

He was received by members of the party’s State Executive Committee, led by the APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha.

Speaking at the event, Okoro-Emegha described Osbourne Umahi as an intelligent, capable and forward-thinking young politician and businessman, expressing confidence in his ability to lead Ohaozara Local Government Area to greater heights.

He said the party was pleased with the growing participation of young people in governance and leadership at the grassroots level.

Addressing journalists after picking the forms, Osbourne Umahi thanked the people of Ohaozara for nominating him to contest for the chairmanship position.

“I am grateful to the people of Ohaozara for the trust and confidence they have shown in me. I promise not to disappoint them,” he said.

The chairmanship aspirant said his administration, if elected, would prioritise youth empowerment, noting that young people remain the backbone of sustainable development.

He also pledged to sustain and build on the infrastructure development legacy of his father across the local government area.

The APC local government primaries are scheduled to hold on January 25. If Osbourne Umahi emerges as the party’s candidate, he will contest the local government election against candidates of other political parties in August.
