Argentine football icon, \u00c1ngel Di Mar\u00eda, has said his farewell to European football as he begins to wind down his professional career.<\/h2>\n
In a lengthy post on his Instagram page on Wednesday, \u00c1ngel Di Mar\u00eda, who has been playing in Europe since 2007, said he has decided to return home.<\/p>\n
Recall that in 2007, Portuguese club Benfica paid the sum of \u20ac8 million to bring the 37-year-old winger to Europe from Argentine club Rosario Central. From there, he made an A-list move to Real Madrid in 2010 for a transfer fee worth \u20ac33 million.<\/p>\n
Due to how prolific he proved to be, Manchester United more than doubled the said transfer fee in 2014 to bring him to the Premier League. Unfortunately, his arrival in England didn\u2019t go as planned and he had to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2015 for \u20ac63 million.<\/p>\n
Di Mar\u00eda played for Juventus from 2022 to 2023 before he returned to Benfica where he played for just two seasons. He completed his permanent move to his boyhood club, Rosario Central, on July 1, 2025.<\/p>\n
