The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of its Zone One Chairman, Bashir Zakariya, who died in a motor accident along the Zaria\u2013Kaduna Expressway on Thursday.<\/h2>\n
Party officials confirmed that Zakariya was travelling from Zaria to Kaduna when the accident occurred along the busy highway. He was reportedly confirmed dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by the party\u2019s State Publicity Secretary, Darius Kurah<\/strong>, the SDP described the late Zakariya as \u201ca man of integrity, courage and vision\u201d who devoted his life to justice, democracy, and grassroots mobilisation.<\/p>\n The statement reads, \u201cZakariya stood for truth, spoke with conviction, and worked tirelessly to grow the SDP in Zone One and beyond.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHis memory will remain a guiding light to the party and the people of Kaduna State.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Party members recounted Zakariya\u2019s commitment to the party, recalling that he had made the Zaria\u2013Kaduna trip numerous times in the service of building support for the SDP across the state.<\/p>\n His sudden death, they said, leaves \u201ca huge vacuum\u201d in the opposition party\u2019s leadership structure, particularly in the politically active North-West region.<\/p>\n Sympathisers, party members, and political associates have begun paying condolence visits to Zakariya\u2019s family residence in Kaduna.<\/p>\n The SDP urged the Kaduna State Government and federal road agencies to intensify efforts to address the rising number of fatal accidents on the Zaria\u2013Kaduna Expressway, a notorious corridor for road mishaps.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
