courtroom.<\/p>\n<p>He then fell to his knees at the defense table, where he had spent two months wondering if he would live out his days in a cell.<\/p>\n<p>The verdict came after seven weeks of intense testimony, during which prosecutors accused Combs of being the boss of a decades-long criminal enterprise, directing loyal employees and bodyguards to commit myriad offenses at his behest.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors had been deadlocked on the racketeering charge on Tuesday \u2014 but Judge Arun Subramanian instructed them to keep working.<\/p>\n<p>Combs\u2019s jubilance was deflated somewhat after the judge denied his request to be released on bail pending sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Subramanian cited his confessed history of domestic violence in the decision \u2014 a defense that proved vital in his acquittal on key charges, but came with a price.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDomestic violence is violence,\u201d Subramanian said.<\/p>\n<h2>Former partners testified<\/h2>\n<figure Diddy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Along with racketeering, Combs was charged with sex trafficking two women: singer Casandra Ventura and a woman who testified under the pseudonym Jane.<\/p>\n<p>Both were in long-term relationships with the entrepreneur, and they each testified about abuse, threats and coercive sex in graphic detail.<\/p>\n<p>They both said they felt obligated to participate in sexual marathons with hired men directed and sometimes filmed by Combs.<\/p>\n<p>Combs\u2019s lawyers insisted the sex was consensual.<\/p>\n<p>They conceded domestic violence was a feature of his relationships \u2014 footage of him beating and dragging Ventura was shown in court.<\/p>\n<p>Yet while disturbing, his actions did not amount to sex trafficking, the defense said.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors ultimately agreed.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura\u2019s lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, released a statement saying she had made an \u201cindelible mark on both the <a href=\"https:\/\/abianewscentral.com.ng\/entertainment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entertainment<\/a> industry and the fight for justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion,\u201d read the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased that he\u2019s finally been held responsible for two federal crimes,\u201d Wigdor told journalists outside the courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>Combs\u2019s family members, present throughout the trial that began in early May, clapped and cheered for him in court when the verdict was handed down.<\/p>\n<h2>Sentencing<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_816758\" The judge proposed October 3, but said he was open to expediting the process, which the defense said they wished.<\/p>\n<p>The convictions confirm that Combs transported both Ventura and Jane for purposes of prostitution during the sometimes days-long sex parties.<\/p>\n<p>It was the fourth time in less than a year that Combs was denied bail \u2014 but not without an impassioned plea from Agnifilo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a man who is in the process of working on himself.
