<\/figure>\nThe African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from a viral list of purported state chairmen currently circulating across social media platforms, warning the public to disregard the claims and avoid falling victim to online scams.<\/p>\n
In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the ADC\u2019s interim spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the list claiming to announce 36 state chairmen and one for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as entirely false and unauthorised.<\/p>\n
Abdullahi stated, \u201cThe ADC is not aware of any such appointments, and no official announcement has been made regarding state leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
He urged Nigerians to verify all ADC-related announcements via the party\u2019s official \ud835\udd4f (formerly Twitter) account, which is operated by the National Publicity Secretary: @BolajiADC.<\/p>\n
He further stated, \u201cAny information that does not emanate from the appropriate communication channels of the party and is not verified on the \ud835\udd4f page of the National Publicity Secretary should be disregarded.\u201d<\/p>\n
The opposition party also raised alarm over the emergence of fraudulent platforms claiming to facilitate online party registration in exchange for payment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe party also dismissed and strongly condemned the information that some persons have set up fictitious online platforms to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money under the guise of registering them with the party,\u201d Abdullahi said.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that the ADC has not endorsed any online payment system for membership registration and warned that such schemes are deliberate attempts to defraud the public.<\/p>\n
Abdullahi called on Nigerians to exercise caution and consult only credible and authorised platforms for any information related to the ADC or its coalition engagements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
