Lawmakers Call for Urgent Action as Lives and Properties Are at Risk Across Eluama, Amiyi-Uhu and Ogboro Communities<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A disturbing development threatening the lives and safety of residents in <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isuikwuato\">Isuikwuato Local Government Area<\/a> has been brought to the spotlight by Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, the Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the <a href=\"https:\/\/abianewscentral.com.ng\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Raising the matter under \u201cUrgent Public Importance\u201d during plenary, Hon. Johnson sounded a passionate alarm over the collapse of multiple high tension electricity poles along the Nunya\u2013Eluama\u2013Ogboro road, which is currently under reconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawmaker, the fallen electricity infrastructure is located specifically between Amaokwe Amiyi-Uhu and Eluama, a stretch of road under reconstruction. The damaged high-tension poles are not only obstructing movement but also pose a grave risk of electrocution, fire outbreak, and widespread blackout in the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not just a technical failure \u2014 it is a disaster waiting to happen,\u201d Hon. Lucky Johnson warned.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"kvezio kvezio-clearfix kvezio-post-middle kvezio-float-center kvezio-align-center kvezio-column-1\">\n<div id=\"kvezio-178990-1212668237\" class=\"kvezio-container kvezio-type-image \" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/WPAdBlock\" data-adid=\"178990\" data-type=\"image\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" itemprop=\"url\" class=\"kvezio-link\" href=\"https:\/\/afnews.sumofunnel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Specil-Edition-of-Gov.-Alex-Otti-One-Year-In-Office-2024.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"kvezio-image\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/afnews.sumofunnel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/cover-1-scaled.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"news paper\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He noted that the incident endangers both public and private properties, and if not urgently addressed, may lead to fatalities or large-scale power outages across several Isuikwuato communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to safeguard the exposed infrastructure and prevent cable theft, local leaders in the affected communities have reportedly mobilized community vigilantes to monitor the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are doing their best, but this is beyond community efforts. Government agencies must act now,\u201d Lucky Johnson added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Lucky Johnson revealed that he has personally contacted the EEDC Branch Head in charge of Isuikwuato, urging the company to intervene without delay. He also called on critical stakeholders, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/abianewscentral.com.ng\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State Ministry of Works, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Local Government Authority, to swing into action.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solution must be multi-stakeholder and immediate.
