WRAPA is Hiring for Case Study Consultancy on VAWG Islamic Perspectives\n<\/p>\n
The Women\u2019s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) is inviting qualified individuals to apply for a Case Study Consultancy under its project titled \u201cCompassion and Protection: VAWG Islamic Perspectives\u201d. This initiative is part of WRAPA\u2019s broader program \u201cWomen at the Centre: Strengthening Capacity and Resilience for Women\u2019s Rights Advancement\u201d, supported by the Ford Foundation.<\/p>\n
The case study will focus on Islamic perspectives addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), especially around misinterpretations of Qur\u2019an Chapter 4, Verse 34.<\/p>\n
This verse is often wrongly used to justify domestic violence, contradicting Islamic principles of compassion, justice, and equity. \u201cWe aim to amplify the true position of Islam and remove dangerous distortions that have put women at risk,\u201d WRAPA stated.<\/p>\n
The compendium will highlight how Islamic Family Law can serve as protection for women. It will include case law, survivor stories, and practical applications, with advocacy pushing for institutional reform and greater accountability for misinterpretation in courts and communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to amplify survivor voices, promote education, and document scalable models that challenge harmful practices,\u201d the organisation added. Areas of focus will include women\u2019s access to justice, the role of Islamic scholars, community-level interventions, and legal documentation.<\/p>\n
The consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to religious, legal, and cultural discourse surrounding VAWG. \u201cThis is not just research \u2014 it\u2019s a call to drive change through faith and law,\u201d WRAPA emphasized.<\/p>\n
The six-week consultancy targets scholars, legal practitioners, women\u2019s rights advocates, survivors, community leaders, and policymakers. The final compendium aims to influence religious interpretation, judicial processes, and community norms with faith-based approaches to end gender-based violence.<\/p>\n
