The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the assassination attempt on the party\u2019s Anambra State Gubernatorial candidate, Jude Ezenwafor.<\/h2>\n
Naija News<\/strong> reports that Ezenwafor\u00a0narrowly escaped death on Friday night after he was attacked and shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a statement on Sunday, July 20, 2025, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP stated that certain interests, who are uncomfortable with Ezenwafor\u2019s growing popularity ahead of the November election, are desperate to prevent him from participating in the upcoming\u00a0poll.<\/p>\n The PDP also stated that the attack on Ezenwafor is another sad commentary on the alarming level of insecurity in the country under the overtly insensitive, corrupt and abysmally rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.<\/p>\n PDP charged the Inspector General of Police to immediately apprehend the assailants and their sponsors while also beefing up security around\u00a0 Ezenwafor ahead of the election<\/p>\n The statement reads, \u201cThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in the strongest terms the attempt on the life of its candidate in the November 8, 2025 Governorship election in Anambra State, Chief Jude Ezenwafor by gunmen who reportedly ambushed and opened fire on him in Abuja while he was returning from an appointment.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cAfter a critical analysis of the violent incident, the PDP believes that certain interests who, ostensibly being uncomfortable with the growing popularity of the PDP candidate ahead of the November election are desperate to prevent him from participating in the coming poll.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cOur Party has also been made aware of other plots by some anti-democratic elements in Anambra State to commence series of smear campaigns against our candidate following the failure of the assassination plot.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThis attack on the PDP candidate is another sad commentary on the alarming level of insecurity in the country under the overtly insensitive, corrupt and abysmally rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIn any event, our clear message to the assailants and their sponsors is that they have and will continue to fail in their evil machination as the PDP candidate is divinely destined. Our candidate enjoys the support of the people and will surely emerge victorious in the election.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cOur Party charges the Inspector General of Police to immediately apprehend the assailants and their sponsors while also beefing up security around the PDP candidate ahead of the election<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe PDP family urges Chief Ezenwafor not to be dispirited by the attack.
