A fresh round of internal wrangling within the Labour Party (LP) played out on Monday as the Julius Abure-led faction of the party\u2019s National Executive Committee (NEC) commenced its meeting at the party\u2019s National Headquarters in Abuja.<\/h2>\n
Naija News<\/strong> reports that the high-profile gathering, which comes barely 48 hours after a rival NEC session held at the Transcorp Hilton, is seen as a countermove to recent developments threatening to deepen the party\u2019s leadership crisis.<\/p>\n Present at the Abure-led meeting were key figures including factional National Chairman, Julius Abure; National Secretary, Umar Farouk; National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh; and National Youth Leader, Ken Ahanotu.<\/p>\n Also in attendance was the party\u2019s former vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, alongside Labour Party Chairmen from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n The latest development follows closely on the heels of another NEC meeting held on Friday by a parallel faction led by Senator Nenadi Usman.<\/p>\n The meeting, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, ratified the appointments of Senator Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as Chairman and Secretary of an interim National Committee, respectively.<\/p>\n The decisions from that meeting were detailed in a communiqu\u00e9 released at the end of the session, raising fresh concerns about legitimacy and party cohesion.<\/p>\n Significantly, the communiqu\u00e9 from the Transcorp Hilton meeting bore the signatures of Abia <\/a>State Governor, Alex Otti; his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu; and Chairman of the party\u2019s Board of Trustees, Sylvester Ejiofor.<\/p>\n Also endorsing the resolutions were representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC)<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
