The management of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) has apologised for erroneously publishing a story claiming Morocco Women\u2019s national team defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the final of the 2025 WAFCON.<\/h2>\n Recall that the Super Falcons of Nigeria clawed their way back<\/strong> from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in Rabat on Friday night.<\/p>\nThe unprecedented win means the Super Falcons have clinched their record-extending 10th Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.<\/p>\n
However, before the final whistle, VON had published Nigeria\u2019s defeat to Morocco following our two goals deficit.<\/p>\n

The now-deleted report, which surfaced online while the game was still ongoing, drew widespread condemnation on the news agency from Nigerians.<\/p>\n
Reacting in a statement on Sunday, VON Director General\/CEO, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, apologised for the error.<\/p>\n
He stated that the erroneous report, which prematurely and falsely announced a Nigerian loss before the conclusion of the match, was both inaccurate and deeply unfortunate.<\/p>\n
The VON DG apologized for the misinformation and the confusion the publication caused.<\/p>\n
According him, while initial reviews pointed to an internal lapse, VON is also investigating the possibility of a security breach or identity theft through hacking, which may have contributed to this disturbing development.<\/p>\n
His statement reads: \u201cDear Esteemed Nigerians and Friends of Voice of Nigeria,<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cOn behalf of the management and staff of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out with concern, support, and constructive feedback following the regrettable publication on our website on the night of Saturday, 26th July 2025, regarding the WAFCON 2025 Final between Nigeria and Morocco.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cThe erroneous report, which prematurely and falsely announced a Nigerian loss before the conclusion of the match, was both inaccurate and deeply unfortunate. Voice of Nigeria aligns with this historic moment, as our Super Falcons mounted a courageous comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3\u20132, securing a record-extending tenth WAFCON title and affirming their place at the pinnacle of African women\u2019s football.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cWe sincerely apologize for the misinformation and the confusion it caused.
