{"id":233447,"date":"2025-07-31T05:47:04","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T05:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abianewscentral.com.ng\/they-are-on-a-continuous-basis\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T05:47:04","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T05:47:04","slug":"they-are-on-a-continuous-basis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/they-are-on-a-continuous-basis\/","title":{"rendered":"They Are On A Continuous Basis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They Are On A Continuous Basis<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<h2>Former campaign spokesman and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, has addressed allegations that recent charitable donations from erstwhile presidential candidate Peter Obi\u00a0overwhelmingly favoured the South-East region.<\/h2>\n<p>According to a data and artificial intelligence platform, StatisSense, Obi spent \u20a6540m on donations between January and July 2025, with the South-East cornering the lion\u2019s share.<\/p>\n<p>The figures showed that Anambra alone received \u20a6260m, while Enugu followed with \u20a6120m, making a combined \u20a6415m for the South-East out of the \u20a6540m total.<\/p>\n<p>The breakdown indicated Obi\u2019s philanthropy extended to five geopolitical zones, with the South-West excluded.<\/p>\n<p>The donations were as follows: South-East: \u20a6415m, North-West: \u20a660m, North-Central: \u20a660m, South-South: \u20a635m and North-East: \u20a66m.<\/p>\n<p>Major beneficiaries in the South-East included the College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi (\u20a610m), Paul University Awka (\u20a630m), IHM Health System, Anambra (\u20a6100m), and Christ the King College, Onitsha (\u20a650m).<\/p>\n<p>Obi\u2019s philanthropy outside the region covered institutions such as Joseph D. Bagobiri Memorial College, Kafanchan (\u20a620m), Kubwa Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School &amp; Hospital, Abuja (\u20a620m), and UNICAL Faculty of Dentistry, Cross River (\u20a620m).<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the revelation, during an online debate, Tanko defended Obi, stressing that the donations were personal gestures, not political manoeuvres.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese donations are personal, and they are on a continuous basis. He has not stopped. So don\u2019t be surprised that eventually the donation may come from the North and supersede that of the South,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tanko further challenged Obi\u2019s critics to demand transparency from other political leaders.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201c<em>If there\u2019s any other candidate that have done that in his personal capacity, he should bring us his data. They should bring out their donation statistics on their own.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He also noted that Obi\u2019s interventions cut across regions and were not tied to any campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>These are all personal donations, and we are continuing. We have not stopped.
