Naija News<\/strong> reports that the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu<\/strong> on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, made this known while responding to a recent editorial by Daily Trust titled \u201cNigeria is Collapsing under Tinubu\u2019s Watch.\u201d<\/p>\n In a statement on Thursday, Dare said that such assertions are exaggerated and not backed by facts, criticising the piece for fuelling public despair and misrepresenting the actual state of the nation.<\/p>\n The Presidential Aide emphasised that while the country is facing economic challenges, the situation is not as dire as some reports suggest.<\/p>\n \u201cThe claim that 33 million Nigerians are at risk of hunger is a projection, not a confirmed reality<\/em>,\u201d Dare said, referring to figures from the Cadre Harmonis\u00e9 report, a regional tool used to predict potential food insecurity.<\/p>\n He described the editorial as part of a pattern of alarmist journalism that overlooks ongoing efforts by the federal government to stabilise the economy and support citizens.<\/p>\n Dare further counter the publication, pointing to several interventions, including the release of food from national reserves, ongoing agricultural programmes, and cash transfer initiatives, as proof that the federal government is working to ease hardship and restore stability.<\/p>\n Speaking on the economy, Dare stated there have been improvements in the exchange rate, with the naira gaining against the dollar, stressing that tax reforms and social programmes are expected to gain more traction in 2026.<\/p>\n He added, \u201cCriticism is welcome, but it must be rooted in truth not fear-mongering.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
