The Ogun State Muslim Council says it has concluded plans to engage political parties, aspirants, electoral bodies, and civil society organisations ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Kamal\u2019deen Akintunde, Secretary-General of the Council, made this known in a communique issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta.<\/p>\n
Akintunde said the decision formed part of the resolutions reached at the Council\u2019s general meeting, held on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He emphasised the importance of engaging election stakeholders on ways to build a better society, before and after the general elections.<\/p>\n
The secretary-general further stated that the council plans to collaborate closely with the League of Imams and Alfas to achieve this objective.<\/p>\n
According to him, the meeting enjoined all Muslim faithful to participate fully in the forthcoming continuous voters\u2019 registration exercise.<\/p>\n
He advised officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct themselves with fairness and integrity and reaffirmed the council\u2019s commitment to the welfare and rights of Muslims in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe council also endorsed the bill before the National Assembly, aimed at increasing women\u2019s participation in politics, a step to enable women to contribute meaningfully to national development.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the area of education, the council appealed to Imams and heads of Qur\u2019anic schools to integrate vocational training and formal subjects into their curriculum.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are to support initiatives aimed at addressing the challenge of out-of-school children in Ogun State.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe meeting further ratified the commencement of the process to appoint a new President-General of the council,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
