With proper care, therapy, and love, they can thrive and achieve great things,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, Dr. Peace Amaraebgulam \u2014 consultant orthopedic surgeon at FMC Umuahia and founder of The Straight Child Foundation \u2014 described the boot camp as a fight against stigma and a call for inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not the job of <a href=\"https:\/\/abianewscentral.com.ng\/health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health <\/a>workers alone. Without any formal training in special needs care, she relied on patience, understanding, and tolerance to raise her child.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her son, who could not attend nursery school until the age of 10, has now completed secondary school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough he cannot write, he can read perfectly and operate his phone with ease,\u201d she said with a proud smile.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She credited her strength to God\u2019s guidance, constant encouragement from other CP mothers, and lessons learned at special children\u2019s gatherings. At these events, her son interacted with other kids with similar conditions, learning how to stand, balance, and carry out tasks independently.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her story drew emotional applause from participants and became a living testimony that disability is never inability when love and support are present.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>A Call for Inclusion<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The boot camp ended with stakeholders pledging to keep pushing for a society where no child is left behind, and where inclusion is not just a word, but a way of life in Abia State.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a day where science met compassion, where policy met personal stories, and where hope for a brighter, more inclusive future was
