Police operatives in Abia <\/a>State have arrested a couple, Blessing and Sunday Emebo, for operating an unregistered motherless babies\u2019 home.<\/strong><\/p>\n The suspects were nabbed at their apartment on Ikot Ekpene Road in Aba, where 12 children were rescued.<\/p>\n Spokesperson of the Abia <\/a>State Police Command, Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying detectives, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspects on May 19 at about 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n She said, \u201cOn the 19\/05\/2025 at about 11:45 hrs, detectives from Abia <\/a>State Police Command, leveraging credible intelligence, apprehended one Blessing Emebo \u201cf\u201d 49yrs and Sunday Emebo, \u2018m\u2019 42yrs for operating an unregistered motherless babies\u2019 home in their apartment at Ikot Ekpene Road Aba,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n \u201cThe suspects were found in possession of twelve (12) children, aged between six months and fourteen years, from different villages in Arochukwu. The rescued children have been safely handed over to the Ministry of Women\u2019s Affairs for custody.\u201d<\/p>\n According to her, the rescued children\u2019s ages ranged from two months to 14 years, saying the suspects are presently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, and would soon be arraigned in court after investigations.<\/p>\n \u201cMeanwhile, investigations are ongoing.
