{"id":234934,"date":"2025-08-24T12:48:05","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/just-in-adc-asks-tinubu-to-declare-state-of-emergency-in-katsina-zamfara\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T12:48:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:48:05","slug":"just-in-adc-asks-tinubu-to-declare-state-of-emergency-in-katsina-zamfara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/just-in-adc-asks-tinubu-to-declare-state-of-emergency-in-katsina-zamfara\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: ADC asks Tinubu to declare state of emergency in Katsina, Zamfara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the massacre in Malumfashi, Katsina, where dozens of worshippers and villagers were killed.<\/p>\n<p>The party said the incident further exposed the collapse of Nigeria\u2019s security system.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on Sunday, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC national publicity secretary, said the killings are part of a wider wave of terror in Katsina and Zamfara, which has claimed more than 140 lives in two months.<\/p>\n<p>He called on President Bola <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>to \u201cstop jet-setting across the world\u201d and urgently declare a state of emergency in the two states.<\/p>\n<p>His words: \u201cThe African Democratic Congress (ADC) is deeply outraged and concerned by the recent massacre in Malumfashi local government area of Katsina state, where 30 worshippers were shot dead in a mosque during dawn prayers, and 20 villagers were burned alive in their homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis evil act epitomises the horrors that Nigerians have been forced to endure under this administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also a damning proof of the total collapse of our national security architecture, which has prompted even the nation\u2019s chief of defence staff to ask citizens to learn how to defend themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi said recent killings in Zamfara highlight the worsening situation, adding that \u201cover 140 Nigerians have been murdered in just two months in Katsina and Zamfara alone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He criticised <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>for failing to directly address victims\u2019 families, saying the president \u201ccontinues to chase photo-ops abroad while his people are dying in dozens at home\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiplomacy abroad is meaningless if safety and security at home cannot be guaranteed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The party called for a complete overhaul of the country\u2019s security architecture, describing the call by the chief of defence staff for citizens to acquire self-defence skills as \u201cthe most honest indicator yet that the system has failed\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the massacre in Malumfashi, Katsina, where dozens of worshippers and villagers were killed.
