Naija News<\/strong> reports that Babalola made the declaration while speaking with journalists on Tuesday, stressing that Makinde\u2019s performance across sectors in Oyo State positioned him as a credible and competent leader to \u201cright the noticeable wrongs\u201d in Nigeria.<\/p>\n The PDP stalwart criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of deceiving Nigerians with unfulfilled promises.<\/p>\n Babalola said, \u201cThe APC is known for failed and empty promises, a testament to the prevailing hunger in all the states of the federation.”<\/em><\/p>\n According to him, Nigeria needed a leader with fresh ideas and innovative solutions to tackle the nation\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n He stated, \u201cMakinde, of all the aspiring candidates for the number one position in the country, has all it takes to lead the country.”<\/em><\/p>\n Babalola argued that by 2027, Makinde would be strategically positioned, having completed two terms as governor.<\/p>\n The PDP chieftain further stated, \u201cGovernor Makinde has performed creditably well. Though there may be some deficiencies, nobody in the world can score 100 percent in governance. I think he has done well compared to past governors.”<\/em><\/p>\n He maintained that Makinde\u2019s eight years of executive experience would give him an advantage over many other potential contenders.<\/p>\n When asked about his own political ambitions, Babalola said he might be forced to contest the governorship seat depending on the calibre of candidates who emerge.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m watching the candidates that are coming out to show interest in contesting for governor in Oyo State. If I\u2019m not satisfied, as a person, with the calibre of the candidates, I might be forced to contest in 2027,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He noted that Oyo deserved a governor with deep knowledge of the state after Makinde\u2019s tenure.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cI will not support candidates who are merely taking advantage of the system. I would rather support candidates who are beneficial and fair to the party. There are members of the party who have suffered with the party.”<\/em><\/p>\n Babalola also reflected on the PDP\u2019s dominance in Oyo State politics.<\/p>\n \u201cOyo State has been a PDP state right from 2003. There has never been a time where the state was ruled by another party without the connivance of PDP members,\u201d<\/em> he noted.<\/p>\n Reacting to the PDP\u2019s recent decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, Babalola welcomed the move.<\/p>\n Babalola added, \u201cIf the party feels that the game is to present a southern candidate, it\u2019s good for us. I\u2019m in full support of it.
