<\/a><\/div>\nAccording to him, many Nigerians feel alienated from governance, as they only experience harassment and intimidation from law enforcement.<\/p>\n
The singer recounted his own ordeal, claiming he was detained beyond the legal timeframe despite a court order for his release.<\/p>\n
He said this shows how abuse of power thrives when citizens lack money or political connections.<\/p>\n
Speed Darlington urged the president to speak with the Inspector General of Police and ensure reforms are introduced, particularly a shift from arrest-before-investigation practices to evidence-based arrests.<\/p>\n
He insisted that Nigerians deserve a system where justice is fair and not determined by wealth or influence.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cBefore you leave office, whether you get round two or only round one, try your best to improve Nigeria. Everything no be economy, economy, economy. There is more to leadership than economy.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cSee as everybody dey call your name, dey point finger, dey complain, dey complain. Nobody love you except the ones you gave work. I didn\u2019t send you. Even your own tribe dey complain about you.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cI feel like the advice I can give you so people will know your name and remember you for something good is to reform the police. Reform the police. It is an oppressive, highly oppressive agency rooted in human rights violation.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cMatter of fact, if they no violate you, it\u2019s like they\u2019re not even doing their work. Mr. President, before you leave office, speak to your brother, Yoruba IGP. Speak to him, tell him to tell his boys, or put it on paper as a law so citizens can have mouth.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cWetin you dey rule wey the regular man no dey feel am? The idea of arrest then investigate is pure human rights violation. You arrest and hold a person before you dey investigate. Mr. President, reason am. If it happens to someone you love, would it be fun? Would it be good?<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cThe only people that think this video is funny are people who come from money, they can bribe police, or people who enjoy the reality because they are connected to powerful men like you. So they know they can call and their stress disappears. Majority of us in Nigeria don\u2019t have connections. Majority of us don\u2019t have money.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cMr. President, where is your soul? What is important to you? Where are you going after life? Reform the police.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cI was held for two months after the judge had ordered my release. FID held me for two months. According to my lawyer, Nigerian law say 28 days for investigation. They held me for two months. What is the extra one month for? Because they can.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cIf you give them money, they will oppress you. They will oppress your enemy. They will finish them. If the money makes sense, they will promise you say they will hold your enemy even longer. I experienced it.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cMost Nigerians are not celebrities. Who is going to help the common man? Who is going to help the common man?<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cWe like oyibo. Everything we do, we copy from them. Most likely, you have a house in UK or USA. You would not invest in a land that you hate. So help make this place feel like that place.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cLet the police gather all their information, all their evidence before arrest, so that the process will be faster, suffering less. What is it with the blacks and enslaving other blacks? What joy do blacks get from treating other blacks like slaves?<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cPresident, where is your soul? Do something. Reform the police.
