The committee consists of the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State Government (led by the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce), Ariaria Market leadership, and CHECKBEST as developer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\" style=\"margin: 8px 0; clear: both;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-193835\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/afnews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/app-1.jpg?resize=1170%2C614&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1170\" height=\"614\"\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis project is not a backroom deal. It is government policy in action, guided by a committee that represents all stakeholders,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The company expressed concern that \u201csome of the very people spreading lies and falsehood have been active participants in ongoing engagements between the developer and the traders as can be seen in videos and images accompanying the press release .<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It added that certain actors behind the protest are not even active traders in Ariaria Market but individuals with \u201cselfish, clannish interests that have nothing to do with the welfare of traders or the progress of <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">CHECKBEST also clarified that contrary to the claims of 10,000 shops being affected, verified records from the Ministry of Trade show that the section earmarked for remodeling does not have anywhere near that number of shops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The company assured traders that no genuine shop owner will lose his or her shop. Already, 400 fitted shops have been provided as relocation space for those affected during the phase-by-phase exercise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe are building in phases to make sure business does not stop.
