Presidential media aide, Daniel Bwala, has clarified his recent comments on Lagos, saying the state\u2019s Yoruba identity is \u201cbeyond dispute\u201d.<\/p>\n
In a post on X on Wednesday, Bwala said his remarks during a morning interview had been misinterpreted.<\/p>\n
He wrote: \u201cCulturally, historically, and constitutionally, Lagos belongs to the Yoruba people, and that has never been in contention.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe unique identity of Lagos as a Yoruba homeland is settled and beyond dispute.\u201d<\/p>\n
He described Lagos as Nigeria\u2019s commercial hub and a city of continental importance, likening its role to that of New York, Paris, or London.<\/p>\n
According to him, Lagos provides opportunities for every Nigerian regardless of origin, reflecting the diversity of the country while remaining firmly rooted in Yoruba heritage.<\/p>\n
Bwala said his argument was for massive investments in Lagos infrastructure to sustain its economic and social responsibilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny President who truly seeks to succeed must critically support Lagos, not because it is \u2018no man\u2019s land,\u2019 but because it is the heartbeat of the nation\u2019s development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
