Nigerian actress Mary Njoku<\/a> has raised concerns over how people use social media.<\/h2>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the mother of three, in a post on her Instagram page, questioned why pain and tragedy are often turned into entertainment.<\/span><\/p>\n

She stressed that while social platforms have been powerful tools in other parts of the world for activism, justice, and community building, the same cannot be said for Nigeria.<\/p>\n

According to her, many people are now more focused on clout, quick fame, and virality than on showing empathy.<\/p>\n

Njoku frowned at how human suffering is often repackaged as skits and how tragedies are turned into trending videos.<\/p>\n

She said she sometimes avoids social media because it has become filled with noise, where struggles and pain are treated as content instead of being taken seriously.<\/p>\n

The actress asked Nigerians to reflect before posting or sharing content, urging them to think about whether their actions amplify humanity or strip it away.<\/p>\n

She reminded her followers that people must not lose their sense of compassion in the race for online visibility.<\/p>\n

She wrote: \u201cWhat exactly are we turning into? Social media should be a powerful tool. Around the world, it has been used to rewrite narratives, to expose injustice, to amplify activism, to spark nation-building. It has united communities, toppled corrupt systems, and given a voice to the voiceless.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut here at home, we seem to be using it differently. For us, the hunger for clout, for virality, for instant fame has started to cloud our humanity. It has drowned out empathy.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I open my feed and all I see is noise. Pain broadcast like entertainment. Suffering is packaged as skits. I find myself logging off, choosing instead to face my real world. To solve real problems, with real people, in real time.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are we becoming, if every tragedy must first become a trending video? What are we becoming, if every cry is just background noise for someone else\u2019s content calendar?.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe must pause. We must breathe. We must search inside for the human we are at risk of losing. Before you type, before you record, before you upload, STOP. Please STOP and ask yourself: Am I amplifying humanity, or am I stripping it away? We are still human in this country\u2026 aren\u2019t we?\u201d<\/em> she concluded.<\/p>\n
