Dr. Math Ekwuribe, reaffirmed this commitment while receiving members of the Ikeji Aro Festival Planning Committee in Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ekwuribe disclosed that the state government has already begun beautification projects across Abia, including the artistic enhancement of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) fence in Umuahia, executed by in-house artists. He further announced that preparations are underway for the molding of cultural monuments that will stand as symbols of Abia\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\" style=\"margin: 8px 0; clear: both;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-193835\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/afnews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/app-1.jpg?resize=1170%2C614&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1170\" height=\"614\"\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the festival, the Commissioner noted:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Aro Ikeji Festival is here, and the grand finale will hold on the 26th of September 2025. We are working closely with the National Commission for Monuments and are about to sign an MoU that will revive heritage sites across Abia, such as Ulochukwu Cave in Alayi, Isiuzu Waterfall, Ibom Waterfall, Oloko Magistrate Court, Isuikwuato Waterfall, Umunneochi Cave, Azumili Blue River, Akwaete Beach, Obeaku City Lake, and Amaukwu Ekeobasi in Osisioma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The President General of Nzuko Aro, Hon. Sir Nnadozie Udensi, praised Governor Otti and Dr. Ekwuribe for projecting Aro culture to the world. He highlighted significant days such as:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>September 20 (Nkwo Nzukoro) \u2013 when families celebrate the harvest with new yams.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>September 21 (Mponsukoro) \u2013 a bustling festival market day filled with masquerade displays.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>September 25 (Ibom Isii Day) \u2013 featuring wrestling contests and cultural displays where suitors emerge.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>September 26 (Akebe Day) \u2013 the grand finale, when over 500 Aro communities worldwide converge, with colorful masquerades from Cameroon, Gabon, and beyond, and the revered Eze Aro makes a rare public appearance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Ikeji Festival is more than culture \u2013 it is a covenant of thanksgiving, unity, and identity for the Aro people.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the Otti administration\u2019s proactive engagement, the Ikeji Aro Festival is on its way to becoming a UNESCO-listed cultural heritage, a move that will place <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State at the forefront of global cultural tourism.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other delegation members included Mazi Sir Kingsley Chijioke (representing Barr.
