This, to us, is not only disappointing but troubling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ADC said the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>administration has continued to pile up debts despite assurances that borrowing had ended, citing the government\u2019s recent move to seek a $1.75 billion World Bank loan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat has stood out in the entire saga of unprecedented debt accumulation is the complicity of the 10th National Assembly, which, by every indication, has become the most compliant legislature in our recent history,\u201d Abdullahi said.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition party argued that the principle of checks and balances had been abandoned, adding that the national assembly now operates as \u201ca conveyor belt for executive wishes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Speaker was right the first time \u2014 our debt is out of control, and our children\u2019s future is being written in red ink,\u201d the ADC said.<\/p>\n<p>The party demanded fiscal discipline, transparency, and public debate on all borrowing plans, while calling for job creation and domestic resource mobilisation to reduce Nigeria\u2019s dependence on loans.<\/p>\n<p>The article was originally published on Politics Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the National Assembly of mortgaging Nigeria\u2019s future by endorsing what it described as President Bola Tinubu\u2019s \u201cunchecked borrowing spree\u201d.
