Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has revealed why she is uncomfortable with being tagged as the \u201cQueen of Afrobeats\u201d.<\/h2>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the musician, during an interview with Apple Music\u2019s Ebro, opined that there are a lot of other female artists who also deserve the title.<\/p>\n

The \u2019eminado\u2019 crooner emphasised that while she appreciates fans dubbing her the \u201cQueen of Afrobeats,\u201d she does not like the tag because it comes with a lot of responsibilities.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cYeah, they call me the Queen of Afrobeats, but there are a lot of us that are Queens.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I don\u2019t like that tag, it\u2019s uncomfortable because I feel like if I start accepting it, I need to be humble and secondly, it doesn\u2019t make sense to me. So, I don\u2019t [accept it]. But I appreciate it. It didn\u2019t come up with it. I think it\u2019s just because I was one of the first female artists in Nigeria to breakthrough. I do appreciate that. I\u2019m not taking it for granted.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage\u00a0has called for Tems to be included in the Afrobeats \u201cBig 3\u201d conversation<\/strong>, which is often reserved for Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview, Savage said that Tems has achieved milestones that place her on the same level with the top names in the industry.<\/p>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong>\u00a0reports that she pointed to her Grammy win, her entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and her collaborations with global stars as proof that Tems has contributed greatly to Afrobeats\u2019 rise on the world stage.<\/p>\n

According to Tiwa Savage, the usual conversation around the \u201cBig 3\u201d leaves out the impact of female artistes, and Tems\u2019 success shows that such recognition should no longer be limited to just three male singers.<\/p>\n

She said the growth of Afrobeats cannot be fully told without acknowledging Tems\u2019 role in its global reach.<\/p>\n
