The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Governor Dapo Abiodun\u2019s appointment of 1,200 political aides, describing it as a waste of public funds.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by its chairman, Otunba Olufemi Soluade, the party said the move was a blatant misuse of state resources at a time when most Ogun residents are grappling with rising living costs, unemployment, poor infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare and education.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis policy is nothing short of daylight robbery, a political smokescreen to advance the governor\u2019s 2027 ambitions, not the people\u2019s welfare,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
The ADC described the appointments as political patronage masquerading as empowerment, accusing the governor of weaponising poverty and diverting scarce resources to reward loyalists instead of investing in sustainable development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not grassroots empowerment; it is political tokenism. While Ogun people are tightening their belts, the government is squandering public funds on cronies. It is both insensitive and irresponsible,\u201d Soluade said.<\/p>\n
The party further criticised the administration for failing to tackle the state\u2019s pressing socio-economic challenges, stressing that what Ogun needs is job creation, wealth-building policies, and inclusive growth, not recycled handouts dressed up as governance.<\/p>\n
Calling on civil society, opposition parties, and citizens to resist what it termed a \u201cbrazen assault on our shared future.\u201d<\/p>\n
ADC reaffirmed its commitment to holding the Abiodun administration accountable and exposing policies that prioritise political expediency over genuine development.<\/p>\n
