{"id":235668,"date":"2025-09-14T18:32:56","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T18:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia-govt-denies-imposing-n450m-levy-on-filling-stations\/"},"modified":"2025-09-14T18:32:56","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T18:32:56","slug":"abia-govt-denies-imposing-n450m-levy-on-filling-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia-govt-denies-imposing-n450m-levy-on-filling-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia Govt denies imposing N450m levy on filling stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State government has debunked reports which accused it of imposing \u201cdraconian taxation\u201d and \u201cruthless enforcement on businesses and individuals in the state\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The state government which said that it had already abolished touting and introduced a Single Treasury Account for accountability, also denied imposing N450 million on each filling station in Abia.<\/p>\n<p>A statement issued by Emmanuel Okpechi, the Special Adviser to Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/Alex\">Alex <\/a>Otti on Internally Generated Revenue, on Sunday, said that multiple ticketing and extortions have been stopped in the state through the introduction of the Harmonized Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>He said that all government revenues are paid into a single account to plug leakages, improve cash management and tackle opaque accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Okpechi further explained that the daily e-ticket for tricycles is N500, stressing that the amount was the level tricycle unions indicated that they could shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe notion that N450 million is charged per filling station is false, bogus and illogical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a single station were to pay N450 million in \u201cfees,\u201d what revenue would be left for them to operate? There is no such levy anywhere in Abia\u2019s approved schedules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The government equally denied any agreement to give 15 percent of <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State 2025 revenue to Access Bank, explaining that the two bodies are only<br \/>in \u201cprofessional partnership to strengthen financial processes and technology\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Okpechi urged <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>residents to pay through approved channels like AbiaPay, banks, approved PoS\/e-channels and insist on their e-receipt, adding that any touting activity, unofficial tickets or cash demands should be reported to the Harmonised Task Force.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v9.0&amp;appId=420332301344305\" nonce=\"sm97MhBO\" type=\"pmdelayedscript\" data-cfasync=\"false\" data-no-optimize=\"1\" data-no-defer=\"1\" data-no-minify=\"1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Abia State government has debunked reports which accused it of imposing \u201cdraconian taxation\u201d and \u201cruthless enforcement on businesses and individuals in the state\u201d.
