{"id":235734,"date":"2025-09-16T22:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T22:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/tinubu-is-a-well-known-tax-collector-former-presidential-candidate\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T22:18:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T22:18:16","slug":"tinubu-is-a-well-known-tax-collector-former-presidential-candidate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu-is-a-well-known-tax-collector-former-presidential-candidate\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cTinubu is a well known tax collector\u201d \u2013 Former presidential candidate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Adebayo Adewole, has described President Bola <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>as a \u201cwell-known tax collector\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Adebayo <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">made the comment<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on Tuesday during an interview on <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Politics Today<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, a Channels Television programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">His words: \u201cEverybody knows that President Bola Ahmed <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>is a well-known tax collector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cBut that tax collection is an improvement over a disorganised system he met on <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ground<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. He did tax collection in Lagos <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> he came to do tax collection in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe problem with Hon. Dogara\u2019s speech is that he is overstating it. This reform is not the best <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">but<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> far better than what we had.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The SDP chieftain, however, said <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>has made progress in stabilising Nigeria\u2019s economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He stated: \u201cIt\u2019s obvious that the economy that President Buhari left was <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a poorly managed economy<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and was an emergency room patient.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cLike any emergency room patient, the road to recovery will <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a good diagnosis by the doctor. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So if the doctor <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is able to<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">know <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">what is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the reason why you are ill, he will be able to put you on a solid path to recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWhat President <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/tinubu\">Tinubu <\/a>has done is to stabilise the patient, but I\u2019m not sure that he has managed to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">know<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the ailment. So the patient is not going to die imminently, but he hasn\u2019t found a cure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cHe hasn\u2019t been able to identify the problem, the ailment that is disturbing the patient, but as an emergency room <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">doctor<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> he is taking some steps. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cSome of it actually aggravated the case of the patient, but over time, he appears to have one or two wins in two sectors, which is why it appears that they might be deceived into thinking that the patient is on his road to recovery.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The article was originally published on Politics Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Adebayo Adewole, has described President Bola Tinubu as a \u201cwell-known tax collector\u201d.
