South African rapper Nasty C<\/a> has shared the reason behind his decision to quit alcohol after years of heavy drinking.<\/h2>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the 28-year-old music star admitted that he had become used to drinking every day, whether at the studio, at shows, or while spending time with friends.<\/p>\n

He spoke in an interview with British-Nigerian media personality, Madame Joyce.<\/p>\n

According to him, the habit grew into an addiction that kept him constantly surrounded by bottles of vodka, whisky, tequila, rum, and cognac.<\/p>\n

Nasty C explained that even though his tolerance for alcohol was high, he came to see it as dangerous since it made it hard to notice when things were going wrong.<\/p>\n

What pushed him to finally stop was the fear of looking older than his real age, a concern he said many South Africans associate with excessive drinking.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that in South Africa, people often speak about a \u201cphuza face,\u201d a term used to describe the quick aging effect caused by alcohol abuse, where drinkers can appear up to a decade older than they actually are.<\/p>\n

For him, avoiding that outcome was enough reason to completely turn away from alcohol.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI was addicted to alcohol. I was drinking every night. Everytime I go to the studio, restaurant, I drink. Everytime I perform, I drink.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, my tolerance when it comes to alcohol was very high, too. When I drink alcohol with friends, I would be the last one to be intoxicated. And I feel it\u2019s a bad thing because you never know when something is going wrong until it\u2019s too late. I got off the vodka a little bit but I was drinking everything else. Whisky, cognac, tequila, rum\u00a0 I was drinking everything.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI gave up alcohol because I don\u2019t want to get a \u2018phuza face.\u2019 There\u2019s a thing in South Africa we call a \u2018phuza face\u2019 \u00a0when you age really quickly because you drink a lot of alcohol, when you start looking 10 years older than you actually are.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
