You hustle hard, buy a house in what\u2019s called a prime location, yet the moment it rains, you\u2019re trapped indoors because everywhere outside is flooded.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3 ai-track\" data-ai=\"WzMsMCwiSXNhYWMiLCIiLDRd\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSd3GiRw0g6bOS3kAtHb1Yhc5Jic6iTkM9pA5DhIB13uZgDpGQ\/viewform?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=102633326415294296882\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>His reaction comes after heavy rainfall left many parts of Lagos submerged, with communities such as Maryland, Lekki, Ogba, Ikorodu, Ago Palace Way, Apple Junction, and Mile 2 badly affected.<\/p>\n<p>Roads became impassable, vehicles broke down, and residents were seen wading through floodwaters to reach their destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Though the water later receded in some places, damage had already been done to homes, shops, places of worship, and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The Lagos State Government apologised to residents, attributing the flooding to factors including heavy rainfall, tidal lock, and illegal structures blocking drainage systems.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, in a tweet, explained that in some areas, technical issues in the drainage network made water flow difficult, especially where downstream points sit higher than existing channels.<\/p>\n<p>He also blamed illegal construction on floodplains and waste dumping for worsening the situation.<\/p>\n<p>He vowed that the government would demolish structures obstructing waterways and enforce stricter environmental laws.<\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 4 --><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><span class=\"copyright\"><strong>\u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of  Tee Global Innnovations  [abiaradios@gmail.com].
