Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan performed far better in office than the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n
George spoke on Tuesday during an interview with Arise Television. <\/p>\n
He said Jonathan\u2019s years in power gave Nigerians more stability and better living conditions compared to what they have experienced under Buhari and now under Tinubu.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that the difference is clear in the economy and in people\u2019s daily lives.
According to him, during Jonathan\u2019s time, inflation was lower, interest rates were manageable, and the naira was stronger against the dollar.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at Jonathan\u2019s period, ask any Nigerian what they have been feeling since Buhari\u2019s period to Bola Tinubu\u2019s period,\u201d George said. \u201cCheck out the economic indices\u2014is it the interest rate, the inflation rate, or the value of the naira compared to the dollar? Who is happy now? Whether you are rich or poor, you go to the market and something that used to cost about \u20a65,000 is now about \u20a625,000. And yet they claim they are managing the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The PDP leader said Jonathan\u2019s government cannot be compared with the hardship and discontent that Nigerians now face. He insisted that the former president\u2019s record remains better in many areas, including economic management and the welfare of citizens.<\/p>\n
Speaking on speculations that Jonathan may contest in 2027, George noted that the former president would have a strong chance if he decides to run. \u201cAnybody who is coming out will show their documents. Whatever Nigerians felt during Jonathan\u2019s period and what they are feeling now under the APC government is clear.
