A United States court has sentenced music mogul Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs to more than four years in prison on Friday for his conviction on prostitution-related charges.<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors had sought 11 years behind bars for Combs but Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a 50-month sentence after an emotional daylong court hearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a person who has accepted responsibility<\/em>,\u201d prosecutor Christy Slavik told the New York court at Diddy\u2019s sentencing hearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis remorse was qualified. It\u2019s as though he thinks the law doesn\u2019t apply to him<\/em>,\u201d Slavik said in arguing for an 11-year prison sentence for the 55-year-old hip-hop innovator.<\/p>\n

But\u00a0Combs\u2019s lawyers asked the judge for a 14-month sentence, which would effectively be time served.<\/p>\n

Slavik said Combs had booked speaking engagements in Miami next week in anticipation of a light sentence, which she called \u201cthe height of hubris.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following two months of often searing testimony, jurors in July rejected the most serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering against Combs, sparing him the prospect of life in prison.<\/p>\n

Combs\u2019s mother and six of his children were in court on Friday and submitted letters to the judge in his support.<\/p>\n

In his plea to the judge, Combs apologised for his conduct, saying he was \u201cscared to death\u201d<\/em> to be away from his family and vowing he \u201cwill never commit a crime again.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Combs\u2019s former girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, asked the judge in a letter of her own to consider \u201cthe many lives that Sean Combs has upended with his abuse and control.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
