President Bola Tinubu <\/a>has said Abia <\/a>State and other parts of Nigeria are immensely benefitting from the removal of the fuel subsidy.<\/p>\n The President said the policy has enabled state governments to execute key development projects.<\/p>\n Tinubu <\/a>stated this on Friday during a one-day official visit to Abia <\/a>State on Friday, where he was represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.<\/p>\n DAILY POST recalls that the president ended Nigeria\u2019s longstanding petrol subsidy with his now-famous declaration, \u201cSubsidy is gone,\u201d during his inauguration speech on May 29, 2023.<\/p>\n The move, however, drew criticism from some Nigerians, who argued that he failed to implement adequate measures to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal.<\/p>\n Speaking on the president\u2019s behalf at the event, where several projects, including the newly remodeled Dr Michael Okpara Auditorium and completed road projects were commissioned, Umahi said Tinubu\u2019s decision is beginning to yield positive results.<\/p>\n \u201cThe removal of the fuel subsidy is gaining momentum for projects, and we are beginning to see the benefits here in Abia <\/a>State.<\/p>\n \u201cThe same progress is being experienced in other states across Nigeria. I am committed to working with your governor to ensure that Abia <\/a>State fully reclaims its potential,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
