A Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju,<\/strong> has said that a possible alliance between Atiku and the 2023 Labour Party<\/strong> presidential candidate, Peter Obi,<\/strong> could produce the strongest opposition ticket against President Bola Tinubu <\/a>in the 2027 general election.<\/p>\n

Olarewaju, who made the remark while speaking on the \u201cMic On Podcast,\u201d<\/em> said the combination of both opposition leaders would give Nigerians a new sense of governance that balances experience, competence, and vision.<\/p>\n

According to Olarewaju, a joint Atiku-Obi ticket could be designed as a co-presidency, a partnership that would allow Nigerians to benefit from both men\u2019s leadership strengths and reform ideas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the best bet would be to have the two of them on that ticket and give Nigerians this sort of sense of co-presidency,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

He added that both politicians share similar ideologies and complementary leadership qualities that would strengthen the opposition\u2019s appeal nationwide.<\/p>\n

The media aide also praised Atiku\u2019s political character, describing him as a loyal democrat who supports party unity even after electoral defeats.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe lost the primaries to Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and worked for him, delivering Adamawa State in that election. That\u2019s who Atiku Abubakar<\/strong> is,\u201d<\/em> Olarewaju said.<\/p>\n

He added that Atiku\u2019s consistency and wide political network make him the most viable candidate to lead a united opposition front.<\/p>\n

Olarewaju also spoke about the importance of youth inclusion in Nigeria\u2019s political system, stressing that parties must provide meaningful platforms for younger generations to participate in governance.<\/p>\n

He cited the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as an example of a party reserving 35 to 50 per cent of its leadership positions for young people and women.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigerians deserve a party that recognizes the strength of young people, Gen Z, even Gen Alpha, and harnesses their potential,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

Commenting on calls for generational transition, Olarewaju revealed that Atiku has expressed willingness to step down for a younger politician if he is defeated in the party primaries.<\/p>\n

\u201cAtiku has made it clear that he\u2019s ready to support any younger candidate who can win the primary. But for now, he remains the strongest opposition figure with the experience and network to challenge Tinubu,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n

Olarewaju concluded that an alliance between Atiku and Obi would be a formidable political force, bringing together the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s (PDP) structure and the Labour Party\u2019s grassroots enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe strongest ticket that the opposition can present is the marriage of Atiku and Obi,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir political philosophies are similar, and their partnership would not just be strategic, it would be powerful enough to reshape Nigeria\u2019s political balance in 2027.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
