The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP<\/strong>) has begun compiling its list of delegates ahead of its national convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri,<\/strong> who chairs the PDP National Convention Organising Committee.<\/p>\n Fintiri disclosed this during a meeting of the convention\u2019s Protocol Subcommittee, where he reaffirmed the party\u2019s commitment to fairness, internal democracy, and transparency in the selection process.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to reassure you that on our side, we are fully committed and will not leave any stone unturned. We are putting in our best and making sacrifices to ensure a successful convention and battle,\u201d<\/em> the governor said.<\/p>\n Fintiri, who spoke passionately about his loyalty to the PDP, described the party as the foundation of his political success and personal growth.<\/p>\n \u201cApart from Islam, PDP is the next association that has given me everything I have achieved in life. I will forever remain grateful to this party,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He vowed that under his leadership, the party would not falter, assuring members that the forthcoming convention would produce credible and respected leaders.<\/p>\n \u201cNot under our leadership, not during our time, will we let this party down. The calibre of men and women we will produce to handle this party in the next National Working Committee will be people of worth,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n The Adamawa governor stressed that the convention would be open and inclusive, assuring that no aspirant would be denied the opportunity to contest, provided they met the party\u2019s requirements.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are not going to deny anybody the chance to contest. I will personally ensure that the screening process is transparent,\u201d <\/em>Fintiri stated.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody who has purchased forms will be screened as long as there are no encumbrances in their documents or past records. Go and test your popularity in the field because we are finalising the names of the delegates.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He added that the delegates\u2019 list would be published publicly, just as the subcommittee names were released.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not a closed system; it\u2019s open. There\u2019s nothing to worry about, it\u2019s true democracy. If you feel you are popular, go to the field and test your strength. In the end, those supported by the majority will emerge victorious,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n Fintiri noted that the increasing enthusiasm and turnout at party meetings signified renewed confidence among members and growing optimism about the PDP\u2019s future.<\/p>\n \u201cEven when we had our inaugural meeting, it wasn\u2019t as full as this. It shows that life is returning to the party. People are beginning to trust and show commitment to what we are doing,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of the day, we will provide the kind of responsible leadership required to steer this party forward.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Describing the PDP as \u201cthe biggest and largest party in sub-Saharan Africa,\u201d<\/em> Fintiri called on members to make sacrifices to ensure a successful convention.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease, make sacrifices and don\u2019t mind any noise you hear. We will be victorious at the end,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n Also speaking, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang,<\/strong> who chairs the Protocol Subcommittee, said preparations for the Ibadan convention reflected the PDP\u2019s resilience and readiness to reclaim its place as Nigeria\u2019s foremost opposition party.<\/p>\n \u201cToday\u2019s meeting demonstrates that the PDP is very much alive and that we are taking the convention seriously,\u201d <\/em>Mutfwang said.<\/p>\n \u201cThose who founded this party will not wish to see it die in our time. We therefore have a duty to keep the platform alive for the people of Nigeria.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He emphasised the importance of his subcommittee\u2019s work in ensuring a seamless and well-organised convention.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you see any well-organised meeting, it\u2019s because protocol was well handled. Our job is not in Abuja; it\u2019s in Ibadan.
