Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that she was unimpressed when she first heard the song \u2018Dorobucci.\u2019<\/p>\n
According to her, Mavin record boss, Don Jazzy was playing the unfinished track of the song in the hotel where they were staying.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview on NotJustOk, Savage stated that she felt the song was \u2018crap.\u2019<\/p>\n
However, the mother of one stated that when she eventually returned and heard the completed version of \u201cDorobucci,\u201d she was stunned by how much it had evolved.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t know if people know this, but \u2018Dorobucci,\u2019 I had Don Jazzy playing that in the hotel when we were in Dubai for my wedding, and I didn\u2019t want to tell him, but I thought it was such a crap song,\u201d<\/em> she confessed.<\/p>\n She recalled a similar experience with her hit Eminado, which she also initially doubted.<\/p>\n \u201cI got back to Nigeria, and I got to the studio, and I heard the song that I heard him play in Dubai. I was flabbergasted.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI was so angry, like, I don\u2019t know, because this had happened with Eminado too, and I did not like it,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n Hesitant about the song\u2019s potential, Tiwa said she was the last Mavin artist to record her verse, watching her labelmates embrace the track while she remained uncertain.<\/p>\n \u201cI was the last person to record my verse because I was just looking at everybody in the studio, like, do you guys like this really?<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSo everybody had recorded it and then I was just the last person to record it,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n Despite her early doubts, Dorobucci became a massive success.<\/p>\n Tiwa credited Don Jazzy\u2019s production talent, vision, and acknowledged the song\u2019s phenomenal impact.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all know what happened to the record. I don\u2019t know what Don Jazzy does, but yeah, that was\u2026 I heard it, and I didn\u2019t want to tell him.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI was like, man, who, I was like, is it Reekado he\u2019s doing this song for? Is it Korede or D\u2019ija?<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI was just thinking, ehyaa, like these people, not knowing that I was going to be on the song as well. And it turned out to be phenomenal.
