The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP<\/strong>) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of reversing Nigeria\u2019s economic progress, claiming that the country was Africa\u2019s largest economy and the continent\u2019s leading investment destination when the PDP left power in 2015.<\/p>\n The party\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba,<\/strong> made the assertion on Wednesday during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja.<\/p>\n Ologunagba said that under the PDP\u2019s leadership, Nigeria witnessed significant growth in both economic and social sectors, achievements which he claimed have been eroded in the last decade.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had an economy that was number one in Africa, and by the time the PDP left government in 2015, our economy was worth over $600 billion,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n \u201cNigeria was the number one destination for foreign capital investment, and all of that has been rolled back in the last 10 years.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The PDP spokesman lamented that the country\u2019s economy and governance had deteriorated under the APC<\/strong>, leaving citizens nostalgic about the PDP era.<\/p>\n Ologunagba stated that many Nigerians now look back fondly at the PDP\u2019s years in power, describing it as a period of democratic stability, rule of law, and economic development.<\/p>\n \u201cNigerians are looking back at the PDP\u2019s record with nostalgia, recalling an era of democratic governance and economic growth,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n He emphasized that the PDP remains a party built on internal democracy, known for respecting due process and encouraging open dialogue among its members.<\/p>\n Ologunagba also highlighted the importance of the PDP\u2019s forthcoming national convention, noting that the exercise is crucial for strengthening democracy and ensuring the party remains the standard-bearer of good governance.<\/p>\n \u201cOur national convention is essential for maintaining democracy in Nigeria,\u201d <\/em>he said.<\/p>\n \u201cNigerians are closely watching the PDP\u2019s activities to ensure it remains well-organised and transparent.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He added that after a decade under APC rule, Nigerians are now in a better position to compare both administrations and judge which party has truly delivered for the country.<\/p>\n Ologunagba reaffirmed the party\u2019s readiness to reclaim power, stating that the PDP remains the only platform capable of restoring hope, unity, and prosperity to Nigeria.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Polance Media Inc.
