Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold, has disclosed that his family is the most important aspect of his life.<\/p>\n
Speaking during an appearance on a recent episode of the NotJustOk podcast, he explained that he wants to give his daughter a better life than he was given.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Orente\u2019 hitmaker emphasised that he can afford to be a failed musician, but not a failed father and husband.<\/p>\n
He stressed that his wife, Simi, and daughter, Adejare, are the centre of his life.<\/p>\n
He shared that his song \u2018My Love Is The Same\u2019 was inspired by his determination to be a better father to his daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll I wanted to be is to do more for my own daughter because I can\u2019t afford to bring her to the kind of life that I grow up living. It has to be way better. And that\u2019s why I\u2019m working hard.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMy family is my centre. I don\u2019t joke with my family. I can afford to be a failed musician, not a failed father or a man. That\u2019s not negotiable for me,\u201d<\/em> he expressed.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold has shared how a painful personal loss inspired one of the songs on his upcoming Fuji album, which is set for release on October 3.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the 38-year-old explained on Instagram that the project captures different parts of his journey, including lessons, victories, grief and the experience of fatherhood.<\/p>\n Among the tracks, he revealed that the oldest one, Simile, was written after the death of his father in 2019.<\/p>\n He recalled that during that period, he struggled with the weight of grief even as his manager pushed him to return to the studio.<\/p>\n Despite receiving an invitation to write for Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Lion King project, he said he could not feel any joy because of the loss he had just suffered.<\/p>\n According to him, the breakthrough came when he decided to pick up his microphone in his small home studio and pour out his emotions into music.<\/p>\n That process gave birth to Simile, a track which in Yoruba means \u201crest on me\u201d or \u201clean on me.\u201d<\/p>\n He described it as a reflection of his grief, confusion and search for direction.<\/p>\n Although the song was once considered for Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s project, it never made the cut and remained unreleased for years.<\/p>\n In 2024, the song resurfaced when his longtime collaborator Michael played it again during a studio session, reminding him of the deep emotions tied to its creation.<\/p>\n He said that was when he decided it belonged on his new album.<\/p>\n Fuji will be Adekunle Gold\u2019s sixth studio album, following Tequila Ever After, which was released in 2023.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innnovations [abiaradios@gmail.com].
