Popular Afrobeats sensation, Stanley Omah Didia, better known as Omah Lay<\/strong>, has stirred conversation online after declaring that the Nigerian music industry has become boring.<\/p>\n The \u2018Soso\u2019 crooner made the statement on Snapchat, vowing to \u201cspice up African music\u201d with his upcoming projects.<\/p>\n \u201cUna music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to f**k up the continent in a bit,\u201d<\/em> he wrote, hinting at a major musical shift in the works.<\/p>\n Omah Lay\u2019s remarks came just days after another Nigerian artist, Slimcase, voiced similar concerns <\/strong>about the direction of Afrobeats.<\/p>\n The \u2018Shaku Shaku\u2019 crooner argued that the genre was losing its excitement due to the constant release of new songs by top artists.<\/p>\n \u201cAfrobeats artistes should release less music to bring back anticipation. The frequent drops are killing the vibe,\u201d<\/em> Slimcase said.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that music critics have echoed both artists\u2019 sentiments, noting that the global popularity of Afrobeats has led to repetition in sound and style.<\/p>\n It is believed that the genre may be approaching a transition phase, with newer acts experimenting with fusions of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and R&B.\u00a0Still, Omah Lay\u2019s declaration has drawn attention to the need for reinvention in one of Africa\u2019s biggest cultural exports.<\/p>\n Meanwhile,\u00a0Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold,<\/strong> has disclosed that his family is the most important aspect of his life.<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking during an appearance on a recent episode of the NotJustOk podcast, he explained that he wants to give his daughter a better life than he was given.<\/p>\n The \u2018Orente\u2019 hitmaker emphasised that he can afford to be a failed musician, but not a failed father and husband.<\/p>\n He stressed that his wife, Simi, and daughter, Adejare, are the centre of his life.<\/p>\n He shared that his song \u2018My Love Is The Same\u2019 was inspired by his determination to be a better father to his daughter.<\/p>\n \u201cAll I wanted to be is to do more for my own daughter because I can\u2019t afford to bring her to the kind of life that I grow up living.
