Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Yemi Alade, has opened up about how telling lies about her age led to depression.<\/p>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the singer, in an interview with Media Personality Chude Jideonwo, said she had been telling people she was 22 for three years.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Knack Am\u2019 crooner said she fell into depression when she realised she was 25 years old because her mind could not take the reality of her age.<\/p>\n

According to Yemi Alade, she faced mental challenges for three years due to not knowing her actual age.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cThere was a time someone asked me my age, and I kept saying for three years I was 22. Then I realised I was 25 years old. I took out my phone and I did the mathematics. I was depressed for a few days. My mind wasn\u2019t taken into process.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was mental, for three years I didn\u2019t know my right age.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nollywood actress,\u00a0Nancy Isime<\/a>, recently shared a story about her early years of hustling in Lagos, revealing how Yemi Alade played<\/strong> a big role in one of her toughest moments.<\/p>\n

Isime, who began working at the age of 17, revealed in her social media post that she started out as an usher and model, often working far from her home in Ikorodu.<\/p>\n

Many times, after finishing late, she could not find a way back and had to sleep on chairs or rugs at event venues, or rely on co-workers for a place to stay.<\/p>\n

Her story took a turn when she reached out to Yemi Alade, who was then an acquaintance.<\/p>\n

Isime asked if she could stay for a while at Yemi\u2019s off-campus apartment, and without hesitation, the singer agreed.<\/p>\n

Isime ended up staying for weeks, and despite the long stay, Yemi never complained.<\/p>\n
