The Board of Trustees (<\/span>BoT<\/span>) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations of forgery and signature cloning made by the party\u2019s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu,<\/strong> describing them as \u201cfalse, baseless, and misleading.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>BoT\u2019s<\/span> reaction was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara<\/strong>, in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Senator Anyanwu had alleged that his signature was forged on a letter transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the party\u2019s forthcoming elective national convention.<\/span><\/p>\n Reacting, Wabara said the <\/span>BoT<\/span> initially intended to avoid public commentary on what he called \u201cinternal administrative matters.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n However, he explained that the seriousness of the allegation and its potential to mislead party members and the general public made it necessary to set the record straight.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is on record that the said INEC notification letter was jointly signed by the National Chairman, <\/span>Amb<\/span>. Umar <\/span>Damagum<\/span>, and Senator Anyanwu on August 25, during the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP,\u201d <\/span><\/em>Wabara stated.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe signing took place in the presence of critical organs and stakeholders of the party, including members of the PDP Governors\u2019 Forum, the <\/span>BoT<\/span>, and other NEC members who witnessed the process.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Wabara explained that following the NEC meeting, Senator Anyanwu was formally inaugurated as the Secretary of the Contact and <\/span>Mobilisation<\/span> Sub-Committee for the party\u2019s 2025 National Convention.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn that capacity, Senator Anyanwu co-signed official communications of the sub-committee, including letters of appointment issued to its members, alongside the Sub-Committee Chairman, Senator <\/span>Douye<\/span><\/em> Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/span><\/p>\n He emphasised that Anyanwu\u2019s active participation in post-NEC assignments invalidates his claims of forgery, noting that the BoT found no evidence of wrongdoing or manipulation of signatures.<\/span><\/p>\n Wabara appealed to party members and supporters to disregard the forgery allegation, describing it as a distraction from the PDP\u2019s ongoing efforts to reposition itself ahead of the 2025 convention and future elections.<\/span><\/p>\n He urged all stakeholders to focus on unity and internal cohesion, stressing that the <\/span>BoT<\/span> remains committed to defending the integrity of the party\u2019s institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Board reaffirms its confidence in the current leadership of the party and calls on all members to uphold the values of transparency and collective responsibility that have long guided the PDP,\u201d<\/em> Wabara said.<\/span><\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the forgery controversy began after Senator Anyanwu claimed that his signature was cloned on a letter sent to INEC notifying the electoral body of the party\u2019s upcoming convention.<\/span><\/p>\n Party insiders, however, dismissed the claim as politically motivated, suggesting it was part of ongoing internal disagreements within the PDP.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
