The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ejimofor Opara, has expressed strong confidence that the party will sweep the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, declaring that Governor Charles Soludo<\/strong>\u2019s re-election is \u201calready a people\u2019s movement.\u201d<\/p>\n Opara said the party is not only targeting victory in the 21 local government areas, but is aiming to win all 5,720 polling units across the state.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are ready. We are dotting our I\u2019s and crossing our T\u2019s. Our campaign is door-to-door, people-to-people,\u201d <\/em>Opara said in an interview with The PUNCH.<\/p>\n \u201cOur goal is not just to win the 21 local governments but all 5,720 polling units. That\u2019s our target and it has kept us very busy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He added that Soludo\u2019s campaign has been issue-based, simple, and people-driven, unlike the \u201cflamboyant\u201d campaigns of the past.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you look at this campaign season, you\u2019ll understand that Soludo has redefined the face of politics, not just in Anambra, but in the South-East and across Nigeria,\u201d <\/em>Opara said.<\/p>\n \u201cOn a scale of one to 10, Soludo is on a perfect 10 while his opponents are still struggling to reach one.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n According to him, the party\u2019s campaign mood is one of \u201ccelebration and confidence,\u201d adding that the atmosphere in the state is \u201ccalm and favourable.\u201d<\/p>\n The APGA spokesman dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC<\/strong>)\u2019s criticism of the \u20a650 million campaign signage fee, calling the opposition\u2019s complaint \u201ca weak excuse.\u201d<\/p>\n The APC had accused the Anambra State Government of using the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) to stifle opposition campaigns through exorbitant fees.<\/p>\n Opara countered the allegation, insisting that ANSAA operates under the law.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are crying wolf and looking for lame excuses. ANSAA is a creation of the law to regulate outdoor signage and ensure public order. This is standard practice globally. If the APC has issues with the fee, they should engage the agency involved,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He added that the opposition\u2019s claim reflects its lack of structure and understanding of governance.<\/p>\n Opara also dismissed the APC\u2019s claim that it would win the November election, describing the party as \u201cnonexistent\u201d in Anambra.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody is entitled to dream, even though some dreams are nightmares,\u201d <\/em>he said mockingly. \u201cThe APC in Anambra is a toothless bulldog and spineless. They don\u2019t exist in this state.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He alleged that the APC\u2019s candidate lacks the blessing of the party\u2019s national leadership.<\/p>\n \u201cTheir candidate doesn\u2019t even have the support of their national hierarchy, not to mention the President. So what exactly are they campaigning on? If they claim to have a structure, let them show us their ward, local government, and state chapters. They can\u2019t,\u201d<\/em> Opara added.<\/p>\n He further challenged critics who claimed that APGA failed in Anambra to define failure.<\/p>\n \u201cAnybody who says APGA has failed should explain how. Do they understand what failure really means?<\/em>\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n Reacting to APC\u2019s allegations that Governor Soludo was using local government funds disguised as community donations to finance his campaign, Opara said the claim was \u201ca cheap lie.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHas any local government come out to say their allocations are withheld? These APC people are just busybodies,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He explained that the contributions for Soludo\u2019s re-election are voluntary donations from communities and individuals, motivated by the governor\u2019s performance and leadership.<\/p>\n \u201cThe people donating are not ghosts. Ndi Anambra are giving their money, time, and resources to say, \u2018Go for a second tenure; we are behind you.\u2019 If APC feels it\u2019s a hoax, let them petition the EFCC. He who alleges must prove,\u201d<\/em> Opara said.<\/p>\n He described Soludo\u2019s candidacy as \u201ca consensus one, not just of APGA, but of the people.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSoludo is not just APGA\u2019s candidate; he\u2019s the people\u2019s candidate. The support you\u2019re seeing is organic,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n On APC\u2019s claim that the governor was attempting to distract its candidate and running mate by questioning their qualifications, Opara said no serious party ignores certificate controversies.<\/p>\n \u201cWho distracts someone who is genuine? If your certificate is authentic, why are you worried?\u201d<\/em> he asked.<\/p>\n He cited recent examples where public officers resigned after their credentials were found to be fake.<\/p>\n \u201cA minister recently resigned because it was proven that his certificate was fake. Qualification is a serious matter. So if they say it\u2019s distraction, then they are the actual distraction,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n According to him, any candidate contesting for governor must be credible and qualified, adding that integrity is non-negotiable in public service.<\/p>\n \u201cThey should step aside if there\u2019s any issue with their certificates. The law is clear \u2014 only qualified candidates can stand for election,<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Opara maintained that Governor Soludo has transformed governance in Anambra through his people-oriented leadership style, infrastructure renewal, and youth-focused policies.<\/p>\n \u201cThe kind of politics Soludo is bringing is people-centric. The people are directly involved, from farmers to traders, teachers to artisans. Everyone is part of the process,<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added that Soludo\u2019s administration has redefined transparency and accountability in state governance.<\/p>\n \u201cUnder Soludo, you can see where every naira goes. The days of wasteful governance are gone. That\u2019s why the people are behind him,<\/em>\u201d Opara said.<\/p>\n Opara concluded by expressing optimism that APGA will retain power in Anambra, saying the governor\u2019s record of achievements and the people\u2019s trust are enough to secure victory.<\/p>\n \u201cThe people of Anambra know who\u2019s working for them. They\u2019ve seen Soludo\u2019s sincerity, his vision, and his results. That\u2019s why we\u2019re confident,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He described the forthcoming election as a referendum on performance, not propaganda.\u00a0\u201cThe opposition can keep talking; we\u2019re busy working.
