A former Secretary to the Abia <\/a>State Government, Dr. Eme Okoro, has issued a strong warning to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n Okoro insisted that the PDP must zone its presidential ticket to the South East in 2027 or risk losing support from the region. <\/p>\n He spoke in Umuahia on Monday while reacting to internal issues troubling the party.<\/p>\n According to him, many loyal party members in the South East have become frustrated by what he described as years of disregard and neglect. <\/p>\n He said he remained \u201cone of the remnants in PDP\u201d and warned that the party could not count on South East votes without guaranteeing the region\u2019s interest.<\/p>\n He lamented that the PDP, once built on fairness and public trust, had drifted from its founding values. <\/p>\n The former Abia <\/a>state scribe blamed what he called imposition, impunity and a lack of respect for internal agreements as reasons for the party\u2019s declining public confidence.<\/p>\n \u201cPDP must zone the Presidential ticket to the South East. Ala Igbo must produce the Presidential candidate of any party that wants my support and those of the people,\u201d he noted, stressing the need to uphold equity and avoid past political mistakes.<\/p>\n Speaking further, Okoro recalled that the party\u2019s poor outing in Abia <\/a>during the 2023 general elections was a direct result of ignoring warnings against imposition and disregard for the Abia <\/a>Charter of Equity.<\/p>\n
