{"id":237181,"date":"2025-11-07T19:37:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T19:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/my-rise-from-deputy-governor-to-president-was-a-political-miracle-says-jonathan\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T19:37:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T19:37:40","slug":"my-rise-from-deputy-governor-to-president-was-a-political-miracle-says-jonathan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/my-rise-from-deputy-governor-to-president-was-a-political-miracle-says-jonathan\/","title":{"rendered":"My rise from deputy governor to president was a political miracle, says Jonathan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Former President Goodluck Jonathan says his ascent to the highest office in the country was nothing short of a \u201cpolitical miracle\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jonathan spoke on Friday at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA)<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lagos<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">during the public presentation of books written by Reuben Abati, an accomplished journalist and his former spokesman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He said his rise from deputy governor of Bayelsa to president of Nigeria within four years could only be attributed to divine intervention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">His words: \u201cMy political journey looked like a political miracle. From deputy governor to becoming president of this country within four years \u2014 it was a miracle. It\u2019s only God that made it possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He commended Abati for documenting his experience in public service and praised his intellectual contributions to national discourse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who chaired the event, applauded Abati for what he described as his evolution from journalist to political actor and now author.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Obasanjo said the pursuit of truth remains central to progress and nation-building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe truth that I stood for at that time, you have now come to stand for. I am happy that in my lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI can say I have a son in Reuben Abati who has matured, who has understood, who has progressed, and who is now on the path of success. And may God continue to help you to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">make<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> success,\u201d Obasanjo said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Book reviewer Louis Odion described the works as chronicling Nigeria\u2019s highs and lows while projecting a message of unity and national potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The books presented include <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Portraits: People, Politics and Society<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (642 pages); <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How Goodluck Jonathan Became President<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (285 pages); and <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Love Letter and Other Stories<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (402 pages).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Abati said he intends to publish further works on the Jonathan presidency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Hassan Kukah, delivered the keynote address.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The event was attended by several political, business, traditional, media <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> cultural figures, including former Ogun governor Segun Osoba; <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>state governor <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/Alex\">Alex <\/a>Otti; Lagos deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat; EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede; Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; former governors Gbenga Daniel and Adams Oshiomhole; publisher Nduka Obaigbena; and Access Holdings chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Goodluck Jonathan says his ascent to the highest office in the country was nothing short of a \u201cpolitical miracle\u201d.
