{"id":237274,"date":"2025-11-11T09:16:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T09:16:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/anambra-polls-i-was-not-labour-partys-candidate-moghalu\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T09:16:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T09:16:23","slug":"anambra-polls-i-was-not-labour-partys-candidate-moghalu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/anambra-polls-i-was-not-labour-partys-candidate-moghalu\/","title":{"rendered":"Anambra Polls: I Was Not Labour Party\u2019s Candidate \u2013 Moghalu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and former Presidential hopeful, Kingsley Moghalu, has distanced himself from reports that named him as the Labour Party candidate in the just concluded <strong>Anambra State governorship<\/strong> election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the former CBN boss gave the clarification in a statement via X on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed distress over some publications that cited him as the Labour Party candidate and, in some cases, used his photograph alongside the reports.<\/p>\n<p>While describing the reports as false, Kingsley Moghalu said the media outlets appeared to have conflated him with George Moghalu, who was the actual LP candidate in the Anambra election.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote, \u201c<em>I am distressed to have seen several news reports in newspapers and other media on the recently held Anambra State governorship election in Nigeria, citing \u2018Kingsley Moghalu\u2019 as the candidate of Labour Party @NgLabour in this election, with some running my photograph along with their reports.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese reports are false, unfortunate and smack of lazy reporting, as they were apparently conflating Chief George Moghalu, who was the Labour Party candidate in the election, with me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>For the avoidance of doubt, I am not a member of any political party in Nigeria. I was not a candidate in the Anambra State gubernatorial election held on November 8, 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI resigned from participation in partisan politics in Nigeria in September 2022, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI was the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the 2019 presidential election<\/em>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 4 --><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><span class=\"copyright\"><strong>\u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
