{"id":237360,"date":"2025-11-13T18:07:41","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T18:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/ex-app-governorship-candidate-ekundayo-declares-support-for-adelekes-second-term-bid\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T18:07:41","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T18:07:41","slug":"ex-app-governorship-candidate-ekundayo-declares-support-for-adelekes-second-term-bid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/ex-app-governorship-candidate-ekundayo-declares-support-for-adelekes-second-term-bid\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-APP Governorship Candidate, Ekundayo Declares Support For Adeleke\u2019s Second-Term Bid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">The second-term ambition of Osun State Governor,\u00a0<strong>Ademola Adeleke<\/strong>, has received a major boost as a prominent politician and former governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Dr Ademola Ekundayo, formally declared support for the governor ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ekundayo, who contested the 2018 governorship election under the APP, made the commitment during a meeting with the leadership of the Not Too Young To Rule (NTYTR) movement in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the meeting, the National Coordinator of NTYTR, Hon. Samuel Ogundairo, said the group was in Osun to rally youth support for the governor, describing Adeleke\u2019s performance as \u201ca compelling reason\u201d for mobilisation across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundairo said, <em>\u201cOur meeting with Dr. Ekundayo is part of our strategy to consolidate youth support for Governor Adeleke. His administration has recorded visible achievements, and we believe he deserves another term.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ekundayo assured that he would work tirelessly to ensure Adeleke\u2019s re-election, noting that the governor\u2019s policies and programmes had impressed him greatly.<\/p>\n<p>He said, <em>\u201cGovernor Adeleke\u2019s programmes and policies since he assumed office have placed him high. I have directed my supporters across the state to support him in whichever political party he belongs to. We will mobilise across all 30 local government areas.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The meeting, held in Osogbo, was attended by Ekundayo\u2019s supporters and leaders of various youth organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Ekundayo, who was viciously attacked during the 2018 rerun election in some LGAs, said the painful experience never changed his commitment to the progress of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the attack, he said he did not lobby for any appointment under Adeleke\u2019s administration and had continued to support the government quietly.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundairo added that his statewide tour revealed widespread appreciation for Adeleke\u2019s development strides.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI have moved around the state and discovered that Governor Adeleke has achieved a lot, especially in infrastructure and human development.
