{"id":237374,"date":"2025-11-14T11:36:20","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/we-are-going-to-ibadan-for-our-convention-fintiri-affirms\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T11:36:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:36:20","slug":"we-are-going-to-ibadan-for-our-convention-fintiri-affirms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/we-are-going-to-ibadan-for-our-convention-fintiri-affirms\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018We Are Going To Ibadan For Our Convention\u2019 \u2013 Fintiri Affirms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The Governor of Adamawa State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s (PDP) Convention Planning Committee, <strong>Ahmadu Fintiri<\/strong>, has declared that the party will proceed to Ibadan for its national elective convention scheduled to hold this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Fintiri spoke with journalists on Thursday night after a high-level stakeholders\u2019 meeting in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The strategic meeting, held at the Bauchi State Governor\u2019s Lodge in Asokoro, brought together prominent party figures, including Oyo State Governor and convention host, Seyi Makinde; PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba; and former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the closed-door session, Fintiri expressed excitement over the decisions reached, insisting that nothing would stop the convention from taking place as planned.<\/p>\n<p>He stated, <em>\u201cWe\u2019ve just come out of our critical stakeholders\u2019 meeting where a lot of elaborate decisions were taken.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI want to tell you here that we are going to Ibadan for our convention, and the convention is sacrosanct.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The declaration comes amid conflicting court orders and internal tensions over the legitimacy of the convention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> had earlier reported that delegates and party leaders have continued to arrive in Ibadan, Oyo State, ahead of Saturday\u2019s exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the PDP, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, told Punch on Thursday that the party had \u201csecured the attendance of delegates from at least two-thirds of the 36 states,\u201d meeting the constitutional threshold for a valid convention.<\/p>\n<p>He said, <em>\u201cAs of Wednesday afternoon, delegates had already begun arriving. People have started arriving, delegates, stakeholders, state chairmen. We have secured two-thirds of the attendance of states, apart from one or two that we are doubting.
