Banners projecting Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde<\/strong>, for the 2027 presidential race flooded the Ibadan venue of the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s national convention on Friday.<\/p>\n At the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, the designated venue for the PDP\u2019s November 15\u201316 national convention, large campaign posters bearing Makinde\u2019s photograph were mounted prominently at the entrance and around the facility.<\/p>\n One banner, credited to a group identified as Lana Fun Seyi, boldly read: \u201cSeyi Makinde for President.\u201d<\/p>\n Another banner, signed by Fapetu Stephen from Ido Local Government, declared: \u201cRelax, Seyi Makinde will fix Nigeria 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n The displays immediately drew attention from delegates, party chieftains and observers arriving in the Oyo State capital for the convention.<\/p>\n Though rumours about Makinde\u2019s presidential ambition have circulated for months, the governor has repeatedly said he would make his intentions public \u201cwhen the time is right.\u201d<\/p>\n He also dismissed earlier speculations as \u201cunsolicited commentary,\u201d insisting he does not require permission to speak on his political future.<\/p>\n The stadium was also decorated with posters of other PDP leaders contesting national offices. Campaign banners for Kabiru Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties seeking the national chairmanship, were sighted across strategic points.<\/p>\n Supporters of former Deputy National Chairman, Taofeek Arapaja, also mounted posters promoting his ambition to become the PDP National Secretary.<\/p>\n The colourful displays by various support groups, state chapters and aspirants created a vibrant pre-convention atmosphere as thousands of delegates arrived in Ibadan.<\/p>\n The convention is expected to produce a new National Working Committee (NWC) that will steer the affairs of the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
